Vikings practiced elaborate burial rituals. Some of the wealthier Vikings were buried with their possessions, including weapons, jewelry, and even animals. Notably, some high-status Vikings were buried in ships, either in burial mounds or, in some cases, sent out to sea in a burning boat.

The Vikings used a runic alphabet called the Futhark. This alphabet was used for inscriptions on stones, weapons, and jewelry, with each rune carrying its own meaning.

The Vikings' longships were a marvel of engineering. They were fast, flexible, and capable of navigating both open seas and shallow rivers, allowing them to raid, trade, and settle in distant lands.
